Population Analysis

Population analysis occurs after you have obtained your population data from the provider of your choice.

While there are many data providers available, we highly recommend using i360 for all data needs. Their data is the most up to date, detailed, and connected with other tools (call, text, canvass, etc).

The goal of population analysis is to get a general idea on the current demographics and inclinations of your target community, at a much more granular level than in your Target Community Identification step.

You should be striving to understand things like:

  • Household sizes

  • Household genders

  • Religious splits

  • Age distributions

  • Voting patterns and timing

  • Wealth and education distributions

  • and more...

This analysis is crucial for how you will group your population for tactical planning. If you have significant numbers of women-led households over the age of 65, your messaging and tactics will vary drastically from populations that may be younger or more diverse.

This step can be complicated and vary drastically based on your community, size of the population, and data provider. We recommend seeking assistance in this step from our team or another professional analyst.
